If coarse fishing is your type of angling, then Cefn Mably lakes is definitely the place for you. Being located north east of Cardiff in Cefn Mably itself it is easily accessible from J28 of the M4 and the A48, postcode CF3 6L.
Regarded as one of Wales’ top fisheries, Cefn Mably lakes offers 8 different lakes, 6 coarse fishing lakes and the other two dedicated solely to carp fishing. All of the lakes have their own distinctive character and nature and all offer a differing type of fishing experience.
Carp Pond: Carp between 4lb and 25lb including Common, Mirror and Koi.
Horseshoe Pond: Carp averaging 6lb along with bream, roach, tench, barbell and perch. Great for those looking for a mixed bag.
Willow Pond: Carp, skimmers & chub. Ideal for beginners.
Match Pond: A mixture of fish including carp. Match record catch stands at 186lb in 5 hours.
Bridge Pond: Mirror Carp, Barbel, Rudd, Roach, Chub, F1 Carp, Koi Carp, Perch & Tench. A good winter fishery.
Overflow Pond: Carp, Chub, Roach and Rudd, the ideal pond for beginners and families. Float fishing only.
Lodge Lake (Carp Fishing): Great for carp angling enthusiasts and experts with specimen carp up to 28lb.
Spring Pond (Carp Fishing): Another specialist carp fishing lake with fish slightly smaller on average than Lodge Lake.

Cardiff Coarse Fly Fishing
Canada Lodge Lake
Set in secluded woodland grounds covering 5 acres, Canada Lake is a stunning setting offering the perfect day’s fly fishing for both the expert and the novice. Being located just north of Cardiff on the outskirts of Creigiau village it is easily accessible from J34 of the M4 and the A4119, postcode CF15 9NF.
Stocked with both Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout, Canada Lake is a fly fishing only venue with a variety of day tickets and prices, with a choice of catch & release or taking home your catch.
Tariffs, as at 31st May 2013, are as follows…
Catch & release 4 hours: £12
Catch & release 8 hours: £17
Catch & release take 1 fish 4 hours: £15
Catch & release take 1 fish 8 hours: £20
Kill two fish 4 hours: £20
Kill three fish 8 hours: £25
Kill four fish 8 hours: £28
Various season ticket packages are also available.
Bookings for Canada Lake are not required and they are open 7 days a week during the summer from 7.30am to 9.00pm and during the winter 8.00am to 4.00pm.
N.B Brown Trout must be returned to the water and only Rainbow Trout over 1lb may be kept. Barbless hooks only.
